Quests Over Coffee

A quick solo dice chucking game as a quick filler.

I was initially interested Quests Over Coffee because its a solo focused game. As its name implies, its meant to be a light game you can play on a quick break. Each time you play you'll have quests that you'll be attempting to succeed by doing a skill check using three six-sided dice. There's pass and fail effects for quests, but in general you're trying to succed to collect them for end game points, the harder the quest is the more points it'll be worth at the end of the game.

On the plus side, the solo edition came with many cards to give a lot of variation and replayability. The one downside to this is that you can definitely get hurt by the randomness and have really tough quests initially and not much to do than just roll the dice.

There's not too much to say about this one. I like the clean look and the cartoon art has some good personality for the easy-going nature here while keeping an amount of whimsy and fantasy. The system is simplistic, there's a small amount of decision space with items that can let your manipulate the results, but otherwise its very straight forward. It's reminiscent of my experience of Kyoto no Neko, but unlike that one Quests Over Coffee knows it's just there to fill time with something fun to do.

If you want to roll dice to pass the time, this one will definitely fit within a coffee break.
