Point Galaxy is a new entry in the Point series. First there was Point Salad, which is a quick set collection filler game, then there was Point City, which sought to make the drafting and building your tablaeu more interesting and complex. This one seems to try and aim for something in the middle, with a few more scoring mechanics than Point Salad but retaining the similar drafting mechanic of the first game.

You'll be building out a tablaeu of solar systems, each with one sun and multiple planet cards. The trick here is that you have to go in ascending or descending value for planets, which makes for an interesting restriction to deal with or work around.

The solo game is very simple to follow, you'll each take 13 turns but it follows a set and predictable path so you know what will and won't make it and how many turns it might take before a card isn't an option. However, this isn't simply a beat your own score as at the end of the game you'll score whatever the AI opponent gathered through play.

I do like this new Point game, and I think it sits pretty comfortably between Salad and City, plus the space theme is something I favor.
