Marvel Dice Throne

The Dice Throne series has gotten a lot of acclaim for being a great PvP dice chucker. They recently came out with a way to play cooperatively through scenarios in Dice Throne Adventures. One of the biggest reasons I went and got Marvel Dice Throne is because it had Thor in it, so I hoped due to the character and for the dice play it would cater to my husband.

The game takes the simple foundation of Yahtzee and adds layers of interesting complexity that add depth and decision space to it. There's interactive card play and upgrading abilities in order to land certain die faces so you can activate abilities and deal out damage. Importantly, each of the characters plays differently from each other, providing interesting asymmetrical interactions.

My husband had a wonderful time with this, immediately having fun with rolling dice and throwing Mjölnir around while I tried to avoid his bigger hits as Loki with their illusions. It's a great system: easy to teach and fun to play.
