When I happened upon Comic Hunters in my local game shop, I almost did a double take. I remember years back that there was talk of a comic-based board game that got good reviews, such as from The Dice Tower, but in later discussions and talks that it was hard to get because it wasn't published internationally. Lo and behold, it seems it made its way to the US and so I snagged a copy.

Comic Hunters is pretty straight forward in that you're acquiring cards that represent comics across the Marvel Universe, favorites such as Spiderman, Thor, Captain America and more. One interesting thing is that the different mini games that are done to acquire comics. There's the standard pick and draft, but there's also auctioning, push your luck with comic piles, and even a grid-based drafting mechanism.

One of the biggest drawback is that the solo mode feels a bit hard, and looking online apparently that seems to be a common ding against the game. However, I love the whole comic collecting theme and that all the cards have unique comic covers is really cool. I will say the cardboard components are really thin and flimsy, and the cards could be a better quality. Still, if you're a fan of Marvel its a nice set collection card game.
